About Alandi — the home of Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli
Alandi Devachi, in Pune district, is revered as the place where the great saint-poet Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj took Sanjeevan Samadhi at a young age in the thirteenth century. His Samadhi Mandir is the spiritual heart of the town and one of the most important centres of the Warkari sampradaya.
Mauli composed the Dnyaneshwari — the immortal Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita — and the Amrutanubhav, works that shaped the bhakti tradition of Maharashtra for centuries; the stories of his life and miracles are still sung across the state.
